The SolarAnywhere Sites licensing model is being updated to an annual term-based structure. Now, instead of having individual credit expiration dates for each location, all Site locations under your license will share a single, consistent expiration date. Previously, credits expired one year after activation, resulting in multiple expiration dates and complicating renewals.
With the new model, both existing and new credits will be consolidated into an annual license term, expiring at the end of one year. Credits can still be purchased online through the data portal or via our sales representatives, and will be automatically added to your annual license term.
Credits will continue to provide access to SolarAnywhere’s comprehensive historical time-series (1998-present), typical meteorological year (TMY), probability of exceedance (PXX) and hindcast data.
What are the key features of a Sites license?
A SolarAnywhere Sites license grants access to various datasets for specific locations. Users have a set number of purchased Sites credits available per license term.
What is a Sites credit?
A Sites credit represents a specific geographical location of data access within the Sites historical data product. There are two classifications:
- Available credits – credits that have yet to be associated with a specific geographical location
- Used credits – credits that have been assigned to a specific location.
Once a credit is activated, you have unlimited access to that location throughout your license term.
What is a Sites license term?
A license term represents an annual period during which customers have access to irradiance and weather data via the Sites historical data product.
What happens to my existing data access and locations during the transition?
All active Site locations will automatically transition to the new annual license structure with extended expiration dates. Users will retain access to their purchased time series data for the full length of their longest existing license term.
What action do I need to take to transition to the new license structure?
No action is required; all existing sites will automatically transfer to the new structure.
How does this affect my license if I only have a single Sites credit, or if all my Sites credits have the same expiration date?
If you have a single Sites credit or if all your Sites credits share the same expiration date, your license will not be affected by this change. This update only impacts licenses with multiple Sites locations having different expiration dates.
What happens to my unused credits at the end of the license term?
Unused credits will expire at the end of the license term unless your license is renewed. We will display the number of unused credits and the license expiration date in the SolarAnywhere data portal for your record.
I no longer have access to a 3×3 gid of 1km tiles for a specific location. What should I do?
Reach out to our support team, and we will assist in providing access to any 1 km locations surrounding an existing 1 km Site location.
What happens if I need to purchase new credits near the end of the license term?
Contact sales or customer support team, and we will work with you to set up a Sites license term that meets your needs.
How do I know how many credits I have each term and when they expire?
The number of remaining and total credits, along with the term expiration date will now be displayed in the SolarAnywhere data portal. Please contact our sales or support team if you have any questions about your access.
How do I purchase additional Sites License data?
Sites data can still be purchased online through this page. Alternatively, you can reach out to your SolarAnywhere sales contact or our support team, and we will guide you through the process.
Can I renew my license early?
If you would like to renew your license before the term end date, please contact us to discuss license renewal options.
I need data access for more than one year (annual), how is this handled?
You can renew your license term for the following year for the same, or new sites. Renewals can be completed through the data portal, or your sales contact.
