Fraunhofer ISE Validation Report

SolarAnywhere® Historical Data

In this independent validation of SolarAnywhere irradiance data, Fraunhofer ISE compared SolarAnywhere global horizontal irradiance (GHI) data with data from 22 high-quality ground measurement stations in Germany that span temperate and continental climate classifications.

The Fraunhofer ISE study found that SolarAnywhere performed as expected for satellite-derived GHI with no visible trend towards a systematic over- or underestimation, and no observed seasonality bias.

Fraunhofer Validation Executive Summary

Comparison of Fraunhofer ISE and Clean Power Research Validation

At the 95% confidence interval, Fraunhofer ISE study results were +/-4.7% [-6.2%, +3.2%]. These findings are consistent with global validation results for SolarAnywhere, which are +/- 4.5% at the 95% confidence interval on an annual basis.

The SolarAnywhere satellite model is consistently applied to all locations around the world, which include a wide range of climate types. The consistency in findings between Fraunhofer ISE validation for sites in Germany and those of Clean Power Research’s global validation is indicative of the reliability of the SolarAnywhere model worldwide.
